These are not confirmed to be the same step, so both are recorded rather than one being treated as superseding the other. A bidirectional meter is installed by LUMA as part of the process.

The screens that decide it

Ask the utility this, before you sell it

  1. Is the 25 kW interconnection threshold measured on the inverter AC rating or the array DC rating? Neither LUMA’s consumer materials nor the codified statute state a basis, and the Technical Interconnection Requirements document that would likely settle it was not available to read during this research.
  2. Is there a percentage of line section peak load screen, a minimum load test, or another engineering screen? None was found in the materials read, but LUMA’s technical requirements document itself was not read, so this is reported as not found rather than confirmed absent.
  3. What insurance amount is required above 300 kW? LUMA states the requirement exists but not the amount.
  4. Does storage or a non export or limited export configuration have separate terms? Nothing on this was found in LUMA’s consumer facing materials.
  5. What is the current review timeline for a system over 25 kW? No published figure was found for that band.

Worth knowing before you quote

Net metering credit is trued up annually each June for the preceding twelve months rather than monthly, which changes how a savings estimate should be built.
