How the size is measured

gross power rating: the total manufacturer AC nameplate generating capacity of the renewable generation system. For inverter based systems the AC nameplate generating capacity is calculated by multiplying the total installed DC nameplate generating capacity by 0.85 to account for losses during the conversion from DC to AC. The inverter own rating does not determine the tier, so sizing to the Tier 1 boundary means a DC ceiling of 11.764 kW.

The same $350 non refundable application fee applies, making FPUC the cheapest Tier 3 application in Florida, and insurance of $2,000,000 is required. Where a study is required the customer pays $2,000 before it begins and is refunded the difference if the actual cost is lower.

  1. FPUC publishes no timelines of its own and defers to Rule 25-6.065. Confirm the current queue time at the local office.
  2. FPUC publishes nothing on battery storage. If a battery is included, confirm what is required.
  3. What is the utility distribution service rating at this address? The gross power rating may not exceed 90 percent of it under the governing rule.

Worth knowing before you quote

FPUC publishes no percentage of annual consumption test, no storage rules, no aggregate program cap and no timelines. Because it defers to Rule 25-6.065, the rule timelines govern by default: 10 business days to acknowledge or identify a deficiency, 30 calendar days to execute a completed application, and 90 days where a Tier 3 study is required. Agreements are obtained at the local office rather than online.
